Gathering and interpreting evidence of students' learning helps us to make informed judgements and decisions about how well students are progressing. It is from this data that teachers can modify what they do in the classroom so that all students will have the opportunity to engage with relevant learning opportunities in the classroom. Below are some documents we have found useful in discussing assessment with teachers.

Understanding On Demand
The following powerpoint gives a simple insight into On Demand testing and how it works. It also details what information you can gain from the test and what you can then do with that information. As many teachers are still unfamiliar with the testing this proved very successful in empowering the teachers to take ownership and conduct the test themselves and then analyse the results rather than it being the job of the Numeracy coach or leader.

Once you have completed the On Demand Testing Place the children on the tables below to show the teachers the spread in their class. This leads to great discussion on differentiation.

Unpacking the Naplan Item Analysis Report
This powerpoint explains how you can work with your whole staff to unpack the Item Analysis report from Naplan. Unpacking Naplan in this manner gives you a great indication of the teaching paractices that are having a positive impact and what areas need a more focused approach. This allows naplan to be used not only as assessment of learning but also for leaning.
